Traffic Violations

This is simply when a driver violates a traffic law when vehicle is in motion. As stated in earlier parts of this guide, there are laws that are set in place while driving to keep everyone on the road safe. This laws rarely vary but we find some differences on state level. So, it's important to understand the state and municipality laws around where you are when driving. Below is a list of infractions we review for traffic violation.

  1. Not on Designated Roadway.
    1. The driver has taken the vehicle into an area that does not appear to be an actual roadway. Examples of non-designated Roadways include.
      1. Using shoulder when not appropriate.
      2. Driving in bike lane.
      3. Driving on pathways.
  2. Red Light.
    1. The driver does not stop at a traffic light when the light is red. Running a red light also applies to a vehicle not completely passing through the intersection as the light becomes red. An example would be:
      1. A vehicle is passing through an intersection where the light changes from yellow to red before it clears the intersection.
  3. Rolling Stop Sign.
    1. When the vehicle rolls through a stop sign without the vehicle's tires ever coming to a complete standstill. An example would be:
      1. The driver slows down as if to stop but the vehicle never comes to a complete standstill.
  4. Running Stop Sign.
    1. The driver makes no attempt to stop at the stop sign, passing through at or within current speed.
  5. Speeding.
    1. The driver is exceeding the speed limit when identified posted speed is violated. This is ONLY to be scored as an infraction IF a speed limit sign is visible in the video and the telemetry shows the driver is exceeding the speed on the sign.
  6. Wrong Direction in Traffic.
    1. The driver is going the wrong direction on a roadway. An example would include:
      1. Driving on the wrong side of the road to collect trash.
